AGARTALA, Dec 30 (TIWN): BJP Govt has planned for a “SMART City” without trees leading all big trees across the capital city Agartala are being fallen down mercilessly.

Thus, this SMART City plan without any greenery has reminded public about deserts like Kalahari, Thar, Sahara.

From North Gate to Fire Brigade Chowmuhani to other areas have come under massive butchering of trees for last one month.

At last on yesterday, a number of students staged massive protest before the tree cutting areas with handwritten banners, condemning Govt’s move in the name of SMART City.

Few locals raised question, where the woods are going and many hawkers who were working under trees’ shadows are facing tough times. Locals also have expressed huge resentments against this step of the Govt.

BJP MLA Asish Saha has requested the Govt is there any way to keep the greeneries saved and also city can be developed.

Few of the trees which were cut were more than 100 years age.
