Konabon is likely to be the linking route for the radial interconnection line between India and Bangladesh

Agartala, November 4 (TIWN): Konabon is likely to be the linking route for the radial interconnection line from Suryamaninagar (NER Agartala) to South Comilla (Bangladesh), said a highly placed source of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). However, final consent would be given after the meeting between the delegates of India and Bangladesh. The likely to be held this month or next month in New Delhi, the source added.

It is to be mentioned here that, a crucial high level meeting between India and Bangladesh on joint survey of the Radial Interconnection line from Suryamaninagar (NER, India) to South Comilla (Bangladesh) was held at Pragna Bhavan yesterday.

 In meeting the high level officials were likely to finalize the route for the proposed power trade route from the Palatana power plant with Bangladesh. Three routes were proposed in the draft; one among these was likely to be finalized by the officials. The Bangladesh delegation was led by Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Executive Director Choudhury Alamgir Hossain, Chief Engineer (Pand D) and BPDB, MD. Mizanur Rahman and Superintending Engineer of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Arun Kumar Saha.An Indian delegation comprising of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) Director Ravinder Gupta, GM (P) M.Hazarika of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), AGM of (CTU-Planning), PGCIL Ashok Paul, Assistant GM of PGCIL M.S.K. Singh.

A separate regional delegation of the Power Grid and few officials from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) were present in the meeting.

It was reported that the Bangladeshi delegation and the Indian delegation visited OTPC 726.6 combined cycle thermal power plant and they also visited the Suryamaninagar sub-station in West Tripura district.

The newly constructed Suryamaninagar sub-station in West Tripura district was erected with installed capacities for international power trading. The sub-station was constructed with provisions for two bay areas’s to make the transmission compatible with Central Transmission Unit (CTU). All expenses would be borne by the PGCIL   Government of India.400 KV Power transmission lines would be extended till South Comilla in Bangladesh, an official said adding that132 KV power load would be thrown in the line.

However, Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Executive Director Chowdhury Alamgir Hossain told reporters, that "To take power from Tripura, a 24 km new transmission line would be erected on the Indian side and a 27 km one on the Bangladesh side. Initially, the Indian government will bear the cost of erecting transmission lines but subsequently the expenditure would be reimbursed by the PGCB."
