KAILASAHAR, Nov 4 (TIWN) : As an outcome of the incident of clash between police and smugglers resulting serious injuries of police constables, the police in the name of booking the culprits terrifying the innocent local people. Police atrocities terrified the commoners of three border adjacent villages Debipur, Rangauti and Maguruli.

Local Alija Bibi, Safiq Ali and others demanded that in search of absconding 13 culprits, the police conducts operation every night. And the atrocities has raised to such a height that, the male villagers have to remain absconding from the village. They claimed that, the culprits must face the legal consequences but the innocents should not be harassed. However, the OC of Irani Police Station Bibhas Das declined any such allegation.

It is to mention that, on 24th October last, the SDPO Sudipta Das conducted a raid with troops to nabb the smugglers in the border area which resulted in a police-smuggler clash. Three constables had to be admitted at RGM Hospital and two of them were later shifted to GBP Hospital. Police booked cases against 16 persons among whom 3 were arrested and 13 more still absconding.

However for these villager families living in border area,  main source of livelihood is smuggling. So their allegations against Police are considered fabricated and most likely false.
