Chandrapur Tatakalibari brutal incident: Accused persons sent to Jail Custody upto 17th Nov

AGARTALA, November 3 (TIWN): The eighteen accused persons cum CPIm supporters of Chandrapur Tata Kalibari incident was again sent to 14 days jail custody upto 17th November. All the accused are again produced before the court on Monday.

Earlier, FIR named accused persons of Chandrapur, Tata Kalibari incident surrendered before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court. Victim Soma Majumder (Debnath) lodged an FIR against 18 persons after she was brutally tortured publicly. Out of them, police earlier arrested Partha Majumder in this regard while the court asked rest 17 accused persons to appear before the CJM court .

However, in a packed court room, 17 accused persons appeared before the court by covering faces with cloths.

Amid tight security arrangements, a huge public crowd was seen in the court premises from morning.Under  immense pressure, created by public, media and different political organization, the police had finally added non-bailable sections 354(B) for outrage of modesty, 394 for robbery and 109 abetment of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against all the 18 FIR named accused persons.

On the pre-eve of Laxmi puja, Soma Majumder was barbarically tortured by allegedly the cadres of ruling front at Tata Kalibari area of Chandrapur under East Agartala police station. On the same evening, the victim had logged  an FIR against 18 persons in this regard at East Agartala police station but all the accused persons were grantedbail at police station itself.The 17 accused persons those surrendered before the court and Partha Majumder were sent to jail custody for 14 days .

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) has cancelled the previous bail orders and ordered theInvestigation Officer (IO) to arrest accused persons.
