Agartala, November 3 (TIWN): Projects of work in progress under Ward No. 21 of Agartala Municipal Corporation was estimated to be around Rupees 7 lakhs, in spite of elite rapport built by AMC in the capital to upgrade its status from Council to Corporation since time space of about eight months last.

One of such sites Kalapania Khal, located near Nehru Park in the heart of the city under Central Zone office administered by Councilor Ratna Datta was observed to be a prolonged project for over eight years where construction of projected work remained a pretended issue of dragging the work in the location for near a decade now.

Work in this site was reportedly mentioned to be a hub of corruption where government contractors have had under-table dealings with AMC authority to elongate the work in few of such specific locations of the city, year after years.

Sources of AMC has also informed that mismanagement of few handful head honchos of the department are indirectly creating artificial projects for repairing the olden projects on regular basis, where the governmental contractors have utilized poor quality material, that wasn’t thoroughly monitored by AMC administration despite repeated allotment of works for the same sites.

One of the AMC sources also added mentioning, “Certain back door deals remain inevitable for the corrupted authority of AMC, which has left a poor impact on the department that is getting indirectly exploited by a handful of contractors”. Name of Arnab Chakraborty of Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scam in state also surfaced on as money investor via few government contractors to make certain personal benefit from contracted works, which has further ashamed the status of Tripura where a money launderer of public fund has ventured in governmental projects keeping his identity undisclosed.

However, the point could be still raised by focusing on the corrupted system of AMC gradually leaving a rotted impact on state over government’s authoritative measures spoiling the work culture to privatize works and projects of several sectors in state development.
