Agartala, November 3 (TIWN): In the ongoing 'Statewide Scam Festival of Manik's Tripura', Rupaichari R.D.Block made its entry. A new scam of Rupaichari R.D.Block came under the limelight. The actual amount which had been looted is yet to be discovered. But it may be assumed that the amount should be similar or more than the 50 crore scam under Bishalgarh R.D. Block.According to sources, a special audit was done of the Rupaichari R.D. Block and its eighteen village committees in the year 2012-13 and 2013-14. From the audit report, it was found that a big amount of money was embezzled.

The then Director of Audit  Lalmuna  Rokhum sent a letter to the Principal Secretary of Rural Development  on 14th October  mentioning that something had gone wrong on the Rupaichari R.D. Block and it’s village committees under Rupaichari R.D. Block . That’s why all the accused connected with the scam should be put on trial within 3 weeks. But it had been seen that, after passing of 3 weeks, no action being taken by the department.

Instead of that The Director of Audit, Lalmuna Rokhum was transferred from his post, demoted and was appointed as OSD of SIPARD Department. On Lalmuna Rokum's place, Chief Minister’s close aide Sahadeb Das was posted to take over the Charge so that no other scam will see broad daylight.

Now, the real intention of ruling party had been cleared in front of the people.

It is to be mentioned here that CPI (M) has already lost its footing as a formidable party at the national level especially after the back to back poor performance that began in 2009. In 2009 CPI (M) lost many seats to Trinomial Congress-Congress-SUCI alliance. And in 2011 CPI (M) had to suffer landslides defeat in Kerala and West Bengal and again in 2014 Look Sabha Poll the party has only succeeded to win in 9 Lok Sabha seats. Only in 2013 Assembly poll the party made a huge victory thumping majority in Tripura.

But during the last few months scams after scams are being published in local and national media. And the image of the party and especially Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's so called ' White and Clean' image too are under question mark.

Many have started to believe that in 2018 CPI (M) will face a tough challenge to retain its power in Tripura. Interestingly in most of the cases the corrupt officials and leaders who are involved are known to be 'close to Chief Minister'. And many even allege that simply because of their intimacy with Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, police will never dare to take any steps against them.

Recently scams like Rs 24 crore NRHM in Kailashahar, Rs 5 crore RMSA and Rs 17 crore MGNREGA are on top list.

Apart from these scams took place in PMGSY, SSA and DWS and ARDD department. In total the value of the money looted would easily cross Rs 300 crore.

After all such incidents Manik Sarkar's clean image is out under serious question mark. And in such situation the Central Committee meeting is said to be a ' Damage Control ' one. It is to be noted that Tripura witnessed maximum number of scams in recent years under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, also during the same period when Civil Administration led by former Chief Secretary Dr. S.K.Panda. In no other times in Tripura's political and administrative history, so many scams took place in every layer of State Government. A CBI probe is must to unearth these dark nexus of politicians and bureaucrats.
