AGARTALA, Nov 20 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has clarified his stand, whereas official source informed the Chief Minister was misquoted by media.
The controversy was generated after Chief Minister Biplab Deb claimed that the Mughal Kings attempted to destroy Tripura’s arts and architects by bombing them.
In the later clarification, Deb quoted, “What was the part of the history is that in Mughal King Aurangzeb’s time either his brother or his soldiers’ who continued to roam here and there, so entered in Tripura also through water-ways in Amarpur and found the Chabimura Hindu sculptures and on that time while passing through firing was done at the statues because it was Mughal’s habit to attack Hindu sculptures”.
He added, the marks of bullet at Chabimura is still there, which is located at the Amarpur, the subdivision named after the King of Amar Manikya.
