Attitude of Police towards victim women may deteriorate in future as BJP Govt decided to recruit 8 passed candidates as constables

AGARTALA, Nov 15 (TIWN): In a recent bar incident, a Women Police station has denied to lodge FIR led the victim girl to stage protest in front of CM’s quarter. After harassed in Sonar Tari hotel’s bar, a victim went to lodge FIR but police official asked her, why did she visit in the bar. This attitude of police raised question what would happen if 8 passed police are recruited as constable and then promoted in future ?

Under a decision of the BJP Govt, now 8 passed candidates can apply for police constable whereas numbers of vacant posts however still less.

Govt of Tripura in a cabinet decision adapted the previous recruitment policy in recruitment of Police constables from age to qualification recently.

Addressing media, Law Minister Ratanlal Nath on Thursday said, “Out of the various decisions, one decision was Proposal for Amendment/Modification of recruitment rules 2009 of Constable, arm branch men/women of Tripura Police. We have brought certain changes as earlier it was 18 to 22 years and now it is 18 to 24 along with maximum relaxation for graduates with 2 years and 5 years for SC and ST candidates”.

“In Education qualification for SC/ST, 8 passed will be allowed which was earlier was Madhyamik and for others Madhyamik will be qualification. Earlier marks in this direct recruitment was 60 and pass mark 24 and viva 40. We have modified with maximum marks 90 and pass marks 36. Among the marks 10 viva, 50 written, physical 40”, said Ratanlal Nath.

Total constable strength was earlier 6791 (sanctioned post) and now 8495 (sanctioned posts). He said vacant posts are only 20 to 25.
