AGARTALA, Oct 25 (TIWN): A Government Doctor was suspended in Tripura for questioning Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, expressing concerns about its implementation may affect the demography of the Northeast states.

The suspended Doctor is Dr Kaushik Chakraborty, is posted in Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital and he is also under financial stress due to his child’s serious health issue, said a local report here. His ill child needs periodic treatment outside the state.

Various Doctors’ organizations have condemned the brutal move of the BJP Govt.

In last 10 days, Tripura Govts also suspended various Govt employees including removal of President award winner DIG from post and other IPS, TPS officers’ suspension after opposition MLA Badal Choudhury could not be traced by Police based on a politically motivated case against him.

In Dr. Kaushik Chakraborty’s case, he was always seen supporting BJP Government’s various developmental works but recently he commented or mild criticized the CM for wrong moves which led his suspension.

Dr Kaushik Chakraborty was issued a show cause notice by Health Dept which is under Ministry of CM Biplab Deb on August 2 with charges of “derogatory remarks in social media which is unbecoming of a public servant”, “posted objectionable remarks the social media against the Citizenship Amendment Bill which will definitely create a rift among the communities in the state”. The notice also said, “being a government servant (he) has given statements in social media against the constitutional head of the state administration and such act is unbecoming on the part of a government employee as per Civil Service Conduct Rules”.

In his reply on September 11, Kaushik Chakraborty said he made those comments under “capacity as a free citizen of a free country” and they should not harm others but if it had done then he is doing apology for that and also sought a closure of the matter and said he will be careful the next time with handling facebook.

Earlier in September, Biplab Deb said that he keeps watches in social media till night 3 AM which Govt employee is posting what. He also warned an anonymous Doctor in GB hospital for posting about NRC’s futuristic effecs in Tripura.
