Allotted funds for MGNREGA in West Tripura district must be spent within November: Naresh

AGARTALA, Oct 30 (TIWN): Laying importance on the success of MGNREGA works, Tripura Rural Development Minister- Naresh Jamatia directed the concerned officers to enlarge mandays as much as possible and to expend the allotted fund within November, this year. While addressing a West district level review meeting of Rural Development Department at the conference hall of District Magistrate (DM) office of West Tripura, Jamatia also directed the concerned department recently to complete and submit the report of Indira Awaas Yojna (IAY) works within the speculated time.

He also urged to improve the quality of IAY works and to encourage the labourers. Besides, he directed the concerned chairmen and officers to make blue-print for the implementation of IAY scheme. A construction committee must be formed with the local public representatives and eminent persons for any kind of construction work under IAY scheme, said Naresh. The minister also reviewed the other works of Rural Development Department.

During the meeting, DM West Tripura- Abhishek Singh informed, in total Rs 36, 65, 29000 has been received in MGNREGA scheme upto October 25 in the financial year (FY) 2014-15 while Rs 31 crore 23 lakh and one thousand has already been spent. Altogether averages of 21 mandays were created till October 25 in the West Tripura district.

He also informed that a total number of 95, 481 job-card holders existing in the West Tripura district. Under the MGNREGA scheme, different development works including 102 water conservation projects, 563 road constructions (139 km), 8 brick soiling roads (5.4 km), making of 366 hectares plantation through Agriculture, horticulture and Forest Departments have been completed till October 25.

DM Abhishek Singh further informed that the concerned department has received more Rs 20 crore under MGNREGA scheme on October 27. Altogether 1, 827 houses were constructed under IAY among the target to construct 3, 616 houses in the FY 2013-2014. The construction for the remaining houses will be completed shortly, he added. Though the department received approval to construct 9550 houses in the FY 2014-15, but a proposal for more 2000 houses under IAY was sent for approval following the direction of Rural Development Department (RDD).
