CPI-M kicks off massive protest rally against ‘Politically Motivated’ FIR against Badal Choudhury

AGARTALA, Oct 14 (TIWN): A mass rally was organised in Agartala town led by former CM Manik Sarkar against the BJP Govt led Politically motivated charges and Police FIR against former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury. All senior CPI-M leaders Jitendra Choudhury, Bijan Dhar, State Secretary Gautam Das, other senior and youths leaders marched the rally with hitting slogans against "lawlessness" era of BJP Govt.

CPI-M General Secretary of Tripura Gautam Das said that this is an attempt by none other than CM Biplab Deb to divert public attention from Govt’s failures, anti-people decision which have recently fueled public resentments.

 The statement came from CPI-M after FIR was lodged against Tripura CPI-M former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury at West Agartala Police Station with Case No-251/19 on Sunday. FIR was lodged against few retired Govt employees also. Former PWD Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik was produced before the court today, who was arrested.

The charge against Badal Choudhury was imposed is that in various constructions including road, bridge, Govt quarters Rs. 600 crores were invested by the then Govt but 10% extra was given to the construction agencies.

 But what worsened the matter is that during hearing, when PP was failed to prove Badal Choudhury’s connection with the scam, Judge held the arrest of Badal Choudhury but by violating court’s order Police held illegal raids in CPI-M’s state headquarter.

Tripura CPI-M General Secretary Gautam Das addressing media said that the former Minister appealed in the District Court demanded anticipatory bail but police could not file any proper FIR with evidence against Badal Choudhury.

Reacting over police’s illegal raid in CPI-M state headquarter in Melarmath, without search warrant and Court’s order not to arrest former Minister Badal Choudhury till final hearing comes, Advocate Purushottom Roy Barman said this is gross violation of law and disobeying of court’s order committed by police.

With all these, CPI-M organized a massive protest rally led by former CM Manik Sarkar in Agartala.
