AGARTALA, Oct 14 (TIWN): Tripura’s once most popular Chief Engineer in his tenure, Sunil Bhowmik who grabbed day-night news headlines in leading news papers during massive construction works undertook during the former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury’s Ministry, was arrested today after BJP Govt brought allegation against the PWD Dept for Rs. 600 crore’s inappropriate utilization. According to the case, there is however no personal charge against anyone yet, but the Govt claimed that 10% extra was invested or paid to the construction companies which could be avoided. FIRs were lodged against Govt officials including the PWD former Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik whereas FIR was too lodged against CPI-M former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury.

CPI-M has alleged such actions of police are nothing but under pressure from ruling Govt which aimed to hide its Govt’s massive failures and anti-people decisions which have caused massive resentments among the people. 

The party also challenged the Govt, there was no loopholes in construction and everything was transparent which will be proven surely in the coming days.

FIR was lodged against Tripura CPI-M former PWD Minister Badal Choudhury at West Agartala Police Station with Case No-251/19 on Sunday. FIR was lodged against few retired Govt employees also. Once by Vigilance team former Chief Secretary Y P Singh was also reported interrogated.

Charges against former PWD team : The charge against Badal Choudhury and Engineers was imposed is that in various constructions including road, bridge, Govt quarters Rs. 600 crores were invested by the then Govt but 10% extra was given to the construction agencies.

CPI-M denied allegations : CPI-M has alleged this is nothing but BJP’s intrigue and frustration of exposing fake promises which it done before the election, erupting massive resentments among the common men. In a statement CPI-M State Committee member Haripada Das said, the Left Govt always worked with transparency but now in aim to malign Govt’s image the BJP Govt is playing a deep intrigue which is reflection of BJP’s anti-people decisions led public resentments generated frustrations. The CPI-M also stated this is an attempt to divert public attention amid Govt’s massive failure in each field.

Badal Choudhury for around 18 months of BJP Govt, has been targeted by various agencies including CBI, Vigilance, CID and now finally police.
