AGARTALA, Oct 12 (TIWN): Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Saturday took a dig at the BJP led State Govt for its burdensome-policies which is hitting the common men hard with increases prices of commodities, necessities. Addressing at Bir Chandra Manu martyrs day at Belonia of South Tripura District, Sarkar compared both 88’s Congress and 2019’s BJP Govt saying there is no difference in the attitude of these both Congress and Govt when it comes about torturing the common men. Adding words to the autocracy and economic major failures of the current BJP Govt, Manik Sarkar said when Central Govt is undergoing economic crisis, state Tripura is deeply affected at the same time. “The Tripura BJP Govt raised a slogan that it will not borrow funds from the centre and will stand on its own feet, but today the Govt keeping that slogan in front taxing public as much as it can, but the promise before election was not like that”, said Manik Sarkar.“When petrol, diesel, cooking gas prices are world-wide low, the BJP Govt imposed taxes on these fuels. To manage the budget and to gather the fund the taxing policy was adopted by the Government. Not only this, promising development the Govt imposed cess on the fuel in Tripura, whereas when CPI-M Govt was holding the power in compare to other BJP ruled states the cess was never imposed in Tripura".

"The cess was imposed to upgrade the roadways whereas experience shows the roads are just deteriorating day by day due to lack of maintenance. No new road is created but they just announce new-new project. The half done roads, bridges nothing are completed but if our Govt was in power then we must had completed them already”, said Sarkar.

The Politburo member further asked, where the moneys are going in exchange of massive suffering of common men ? Price hikes are burdening the common men everyday but it was not the promise of the BJP.

“People who are rich, they are not targeted for taxes, but the people who are too poor to manage two times meals are imposed with huge taxes.”, he said.

Manik Sarkar further criticized increased tariffs of Electricity at 7.5%. He said, when people were busy in Durga puja on that time this circulation was given.

Down of MGNREGA mandays, social pensions scrapping also got places in Manik Sarkar’s speech.

“The Health Service was almost free in CPI-M Govt’s time but now for entering the hospital public have to pay. The Govt has added Doctors’ fees. All tests are now need moneys from meal to oxygen to bed. Free education till Colleges was propagated before the Election, but Education system is now towards privatization”, Sarkar added.

He further criticized yesterday’s Durga puja carnival at Agartala city which created massive traffic jam fueled suffering for the common men, patients.
