AGARTALA, Oct 12 (TIWN): Aimed to mimic Mamata Banerjee Govt’s carnival programme, the Dasami committee caused massive suffering for people in Agartala city, specially those who are patients of IGM hospitals.

Also for long distance travelers it caused a havoc, were bound to walk miles after miles as the carnival occupied the largest part of the city.

In West Bengal, carnival’s planning begins from spot selection and police, traffic dept take the lead role which ensures first public comforts but in the narrow roads of the Agartala city, imitating Mamata Banerjee’s style of carnival resulted in disaster and caused sufferings.  

Tripura CPI-M General Secretary Gautam Das said, “So-called Carnival of Durga idol nothing to do with Hindu religion. State BJP govt created havoc and immense misery of the people in Agartala this evening. Patient, particularly pregnant women and children faced great difficulties in reaching IGM and GB Hospital for treatment. This is sheer abuse of power illegally. Top functionaries in the Police Administration violated Police Manual at the dictate of political bosses”.

BJP led State Govt has introduced first ever Puja Carnival on Dasami like West Bengal which was introduced by Mamata Banerjee at there. BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav was present on this occasion.Chief Minister Biplab Deb with wife Niti Deb was present on that occasion, witnessed the Carnival proceeding.

The carnival had participants from Agartala and its adjoining areas parading down from Paradise Chowmuhani to Dasami-Ghat, showcasing their idols in a colourful show of gaiety and grandeur.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb, members of diplomatic corps and other distinguished persons were present at the function.
