AGARTALA, Oct 10 (TIWN): With slow-down, heavy fall on GDP and massive unemployment, job-terminations, opposition CPI-M and Congress geared up for massive protests in the state Tripura, as Tripura is now at top position in the unemployment rates. Announcing a massive protest tomorrow, Congress is preparing to voice against Govt’s anti-people decisions of imposing taxes, increasing prices from fuel to electricity. As CPI-M nationwide has started an agitation from today to 16th October, CPI-M convenor Bijan Dhar disclosed a data showing at least 52% graduates and 62% post graduates are unemployed in India whereas state Tripura is in miserable shape. He mentioned, with the world-wide economic slowdown is hinted, India’s situation will be pathetic than ever. Dhar mentions about loss in business, down of manufacturing, job slashes and more economic disasters ahead.

The CPI-M convenor further asked, why there would not be loan weaver if corporates are relaxed with taxes ? For whom common men are burdening with taxes ? Why common men should help the corporates ?

Congress further criticized the Govt for massive terminations of employees who were working on contract basis including JICA, NHM, MGNREGA etc.

“Earlier fixed pay system was at least giving people little earning but this present govt is just moving fast with anti-unemployed decisions”, Subal Bhowmik said.

According to CMIE report published for the September month, 2019 India’s urban area’s unemployment rate is 9.9% whereas rural unemployment rate is 6.7%. More suffered state is among all Indian states is Tripura whose unemployment rate is now 31.2%. Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has revealed its monthly data for Indian unemployment rate for September-2019, listing Tripura at the top position in unemployment rate with 31.2%. Indian national unemployment rate is 7.3% and among 29 states, Tripura has bagged the top position this time. Tripura constantly has remained at the top position in unemployment rate, although in August, 2019 it dropped in the second position with 26.4% but this month it jumped at top position with 31.2%. Delhi is now in second position in unemployment rate with 20.4% and Haryana is 3rd with 20.3%.CMIE data has generated tension further when Tripura like many other states is reeling under economic crisis.

If Central BJP Govt could fulfill the promise which it made before the Election about employment generation including 50,000 Govt jobs per year, the situation could be different and better.

National unemployment rate of India is much higher than World Unemployment rate and highest unemployment rate of India of last 50 years.

According to ILO the unemployment rate is only 4.95% at the world level and India’s unemployment rate is 7.3%.
