AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, Oct 5 (TIWN): As pending wages were not clear on the day of Saptami to the poor people, the agitated, deprived public blocked road at Khowai today.

One of the agitators broke down in tears saying, he could not gift dresses to his children on the day of Saptami.

Although the ruling BJP Government promised to hike MGNREGA wages at Rs. 340 before Assembly Election 2018 but after 18 months of the Govt, the situation turned ironical and on the eve of Durga puja instead of markets the workers were seen in protest before the block offices.

Statewide MGNREGA’s pending wages have been causing massive distresses, fueled clashes in the Panchayat office premises in few places.

In the Tulashikar block on yesterday women locked a block office demanding pending wages and at Srinathpur Panchayat clashes have injured people during a protest over MGNREGA’s pending wages. When pending MGNREGA wages have created massive anxieties throughout Tripura just ahead of Durga puja, notices received by many for social pensions’ slashes brining tears in eyes of poor.
