AGARTALA, Oct 4 (TIWN): Amid accusations against Tripura Police for not lodging FIRs in 3 police stations in 32 years old woman’s gang-rape incident, State Women Commission Chairperson Barnali Goswami said that Commission will ensure that each rapist is served with capital punishment so that it can set an example before the society.
She also blamed the previous Govt for increasing arbitrary-meetings to mutualizing rape cases. She says, in such cases, mutualizing can never be supported.
On 30th September (Monday) in Teliamura one more rape incident was reported, crossing the layers of public tolerance and yesterday Women Commission Chairperson Barnali Goswami has visited Teliamura and met the victim.
Condemning the incident, Barnali Goswami said, “Such heinous crimes are unpardonable. I will work for the justice of the victim. Capital punishment should be minimum punishment the rapists”.
Police have arrested two persons 1) Surajit Debbarma (24) and 2) Arvind Debbarma (23) in this incident.
The rape victim told media that these two persons attacked her at around 4 am and pressed her mouth and then raped brutally. The incident took place on very early morning Sunday (4 am). She did not complain on that time but in morning after she complained, police have arrested both of them after the FIR was lodged. The two accused persons have been produced before the court today and police have appealed for police-remand to the court.
