AGARTALA, Oct 1 (TIWN): Tripura’s former Additional Chief Secretary Planning Circle (PWD) Alak Ranjan Roy Chowdhury was arrested by police in corruption allegation which allegedly took place under the previous CPI-M Govt’s time during various construction works in the capital city Agartala.

Alak Ranjan Roy Chowdhury was produced before the court and sent for judicial custody till October 11, 2019.Crime Branch in Tripura also submitted 527 page’s chargesheet before the court.

Chargesheet was also filed against former Chief Engineer (PWD) Sunil Bhowmik over construction of a bridge over Katakhal, Agartala.

Police alleged, the bridge could be done by RCC but it was made out of steel arc which caused extra Rs. 19 crore’s of expenditure.

Also in case of flyover same was alleged about extra expenditure, although, nowhere inappropriate expenditure tally was reported so far.
