AGARTALA, Sep 28 (TIUWN): Aftermath CPI-M candidate Bulti Biswas’s failure to bag the first position in the Badharghat constituency, rewarding BJP with victory at gap of over 5,000 votes followed by a tough competition to the winner BJP candidate, massive post poll violence have been reported in that constituency. The first report came from CPI-M Dukli subdivisional office where liquors bottles, bricks were thrown and the party office was partially damaged. Apart from party office attack, house to house attack incidents were too informed which included CPI-M leader Chapala Biswas, youth leader Arindam Biswas and many more people’s houses. In the Hapania Chwomuhani, CPI-M worker Bapan Debnath’s shop was vandalized. CPI-M polling agent of 64 no. booth, voter of 66 no. today morning found his shop was burnt, devastating his business.

He alleged that BJP hooligans have burnt his shop saying, “I am neither a leader, no holding any political position. I am just a simple worker, supporter of the CPI-M. I was appointed as the polling agent in a booth. Yesterday, even before election result was completed, the first attack took place in my shop and I skipped to open the shop for a day but today morning, in a phone call I was informed by a local that my shop has been burnt. I don’t have any enemy except political enemies”.

This CPI-M polling agent indeed devastated after poll-poll violence fire set on his shop.

“Except BJP, nobody has done such works. This is a guaranteed work of the BJP hooligans. My furniture to many expensive items costing Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 70,000 have been damaged”, he said.

Police came and lodged FIR but nobody was arrested so far.

Badharghat by-election was followed by house to house threats although opposition this time didn’t allege much before the election about pre-poll violence. One day ahead of poll, after the first attack both CPI-M and Congress set in protest by blocking road demanding peaceful election. After the poll result on yesterday was declared massive attacks took place in various spots.

CPI-M leader who fought the Election as the candidate of CPI-M for Badharghat by-election Bulti Biswas visited attacked spots at Badharghat. Other senior leaders, youth leader Nabarun Deb were also present on that occasion.

BJP candidate Mimi Majumder on Friday won the Badharghat Assembly by-poll in Tripura defeating her nearest CPI-M rival Bulti Biswas by a margin of 5,276 votes.

This attack was expected as according to EC documents, the vote share of ruling BJP compared to the last year's Assembly polls and Lok Sabha elections earlier this year, was reduced by a few thousand. It happened as opposition became strong this time.
