AGARTALA, Sep 20 (TIWN): DYFI member, TV channel journalist Santanu Bhoumik was remembered by Students Federation of India (DYFI), CPI-M’s youth wing on his 2nd death anniversary. CPI-M leader Pabitra Kar, DYFI State General Secretary Nabarun Deb and other members of DYFI paid tribute to Santanu Bhoumik.
Santanu Bhoumik was killed on September 20, 2017 when he was collecting news during alleged IPFT led violence in Mandai. Santanu during a political clash was hit by heavy stick on his head and soon he was stretched to a jungle and was brutally killed.
The then Left Govt formed a SIT to investigate Santanu murder case, whereas a major section of journalists demanded CBI investigation.
The BJP used the sentiment as tool of party propaganda to unseat Left Govt and assured CBI investigation in Santanu’s murder case if BJP voted to power. Accordingly, Biplab Deb after holding power as Chief Minister kept BJP’s given promise and handedover the case to CBI.
But Santanu Murder case is in deep-freeze condition, whereas CBI in July, 2018 booked around 300 IPFT activists along with IPFT MLA Dhirendra Debbarma.
