AGARTALA, Sep 14 (TIWN): Wood smugglers led massive attack was reported in a forest under Teliamura.
The incident took place at Champaknagar Forest area’s Baramura hilly areas. The village has been identified as Narayan Bari.
It happened when getting informed by secret sources Forest officials rushed to the spot and the wood smugglers escaped inside village and after sometimes, huge numbers of villagers in group allegedly came to the spot and attacked them with sharp weapons.
On being bound, the Forest officers to save themselves held firing on air. 6 rounds of firing was reported.The local TSR camp didn’t help the Fire Dept staffs saying, “Law and Order is not in their hands”.
Due to non-cooperation from TSR, the wood-smugglers escaped with both the vehicles which were carrying woods illegally.
Later local police helped the forest officials and rescued them. However, after search ID card and some photo identities of people were found from the spot, said the Forest officials.
