Encroachers served notice to release Govt lands by 13th September to decrease Traffic Jam problems in Agartala

AGARTALA, Sep 9 (TIWN): Recently some important roads & drains in centre of Agartala city have been demarcated by the Revenue administration & encroachments have been found. The list is as follows:

1. Colonel Chowmuhani to Haradhan Sangh- narrow stretch on the lifeline road of Agartala. 08 encroachers with boundary wall & shop encroaching 03 feet on road. Causing severe traffic jams. Recently the traffic department had to make it one way during peak office hours to reduce traffic jams.

2. Bhagaban Thakur Chowmuhani to Ganaraj Chowmuhani- 37 people have encroached, 26 from Ganaraj Chowmuhani to Lal Bahadur & 11 from Lal Bahadur to Bhagaban Thakur. This area is hon’ble CM’s constituency. The encroachments range from 02 feet to 05 feet causing traffic congestion & severe inconvenience to pedestrians also.

3. Shibnagar Khal: major drainage of Banamalipur area, total 52 persons have encroached. Reducing width of the khal by 2-8 feet everywhere. Causing waterlogging in Banamalipur area.

4. Drain from Banamalipur dighi to Akhaura khal behind East PS- total 08 encroachers. They have reduced the width of the drain from pre-existing 6-8 feet to present 1-4 feet leading to obstruction in water outflow & severe waterlogging in areas surrounding Banamalipur dighi.

All these encroachers have been issued notice by AMC under section 107 of Tripura Municipal Act giving time till Friday 13/9/19 to remove it themselves failing which AMC will forcefully remove the encroachments, with cost of removal to be recovered from encroachers.

Also many other congested areas where frequent traffic jams happen like GB Bazaar crossing are under process of measurement & demarcation and these areas will also be made encroachment free with wider roads.
