AGARTALA, Sep 8 (TIWN): Tripura BJP Govt’s inhuman decision to withdraw free health service to it own State people, even without payment, refusing to treat dying patients in GB Hospital & others caused Statewide condemnation. Even after being residents of Tripura, now even the poorest has to pay for health service in the Government hospitals. Such inhuman and shocking decisions have created turmoil when various patients across Tripura left without treatment and such incidents were flashed in few newspapers. Reacting over the decision of the State Govt, Tripura Congress leader Gopal Roy said in a press release, “Under the BJP Govt now, people have to die without treatment in Tripura. From GB to all hospitals now will demand money for treatment. Even hospital admission will also charge people and food also will be given in exchange of money".

"This is nothing but Tughlaqi decision of the Government. I deeply condemn such brutal, inhuman notification of the BJP Govt”, Roy said.

A daily newspaper has reported that a patient denied for operation at GB after he could not pay Rs. 10,000. Later with various journalists’ pressure treatment was although done but what is the condition across Tripura is has generated fear.

Being citizen of Tripura, why one has to pay for medical service and how a Government can seek money from medical service specially from the poor people, this has shocked media.

Gripped in poverty, how people will survive without medical treatment, it is a major concern of the society now. Long back hospitals like GB started charging medicine prices for wards, but now Govt’s decision of charging health service without ensuring minimum income of the people will likely not only damage the Govt’s image but also enough to create anti-incumbency among the poor and middleclass.

Such decisions in an Indian state reportedly come from the Law dept which is now handling by Law Minister Ratanlal Nath and Finance Dept handled by Deputy CM Jishnu Deb Barman.

When Kejriwal like CMs are providing free-electricity and various free services to the people of a metropolitan city, where Tripura is heading, it has generated tension.
