AGARTALA, Sep 1 (TIWN): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing in an awareness programme at Agartala Rabindra Bhawan on Sunday morning urged people to bring awareness about road-accidents. His appeal was open to all regardless teachers, students, media persons and social media users.

He strongly criticized the tendency of few youths to ‘overtake’ other vehicles to prove themselves as heroes.  

Addressing at the programme Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Road accidents are matters of major concerns which have drastically increased due to lack of system for many years. I am not blaming anyone but it is fact that for long 25 years they were in power but could not start basic processes like zebra crossing in the state”.

Addressing for the guardians, Deb said, it is strange that often parents can buy Rs. 80,000 costing bikes for their sons but can not buy good helmets for them. If helmet is proper then at least life will be saved.

Also CM asked the teachers to discuss about road accidents in schools.

“Children generally have interest in sports, educational competition or entertainment news but this is due to those issues are discussed in schools. So, my humble request is that such issues like road accidents should also be discussed so that children become aware about road accidents”, said Deb.

“Everyone today is in social media and I see people are posting in social media various accidents’ photos day to day. It is good but at the same time, you can give the caption added by motivational tones to reduce road accidents and it should sound against reckless driving”, said CM.

He also urged media to aware people by proper captions.
