AGARTALA, Aug 28 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has unveiled statue of a forgotten martyr Rabi Kumar Debbarma, son of the soil from Tripura, who is awarded by Vir Chakra in 1990. The statue has been dedicated at the Lembucherra park.
Late Sepoy Rabi Kumar Debbarma is of 4 Assam Regiment, as member of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF), died during a fierce gun battle with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Viswmadu under Kilinochi district of Sri Lanka on July 3, 1988.
He was martyred at the age of only 23.
The Late Sepoy Rabi Kumar Debbarma was from Lembucherra at the outskirts of Agartala.
Last year after Biplab Deb visited the family, the family members said that he is first CM or any Minister to visit their home.
The statue was dedicated at the Lembuchara park in the presence of this brave soldier’s parents.
Infact young generation of Tripura hardly know about this braveheart.
