East Agartala Police Caught Auto Driver Red-Handed while smuggling Foreign liquors, produced before court

AGARTALA, Aug 28 (TIWN): Amid continuous warning from the Home Dept, illegal means of contraband items peddling continuing even in the heart of the capital city Agartala. In another major success, Agartala Police have seized huge numbers of illegal liquor bottles and arrested one auto driver red-handed while carrying those liquors illegally. Addressing media a police official Manish Debnath at the East PS said, “Today morning at around 8 am, we were informed that a three wheeler auto is carrying huge numbers of liquor bottles. Then we started to follow the vehicle from Kaman Chowmuhani to central road extension. We found that huge amounts of contrabands have been found in this vehicle. He was carrying foreign liquors but didn’t have any proper papers with him. Police have arrested the driver”. The arrested driver Rahul Sutradhar claimed that he was carrying liquors to a counter whereas police said, no paper was with him and the delivery time should be between 10 am to 5 pm.

The driver could not show any challan or any valid paper. Total 55 curtains of liquors at the cost of Rs. 3.5 lakhs have been seized. The arrested driver is a resident of Subashnagar.

Recently while addressing at Kanchanpur, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has again and again has once aain called for “Nesha Mukt Kanchanpur” and “Neshamukt Tripura” giving stern warning to drug-smugglers.

Giving a strict warning to drug-smugglers, Biplab Deb said, “You can settle in Kanchanpur or in Japan but the way of your income should generate inspirations to others but this Kanchanpur roads at any condition or any excuse should be transporting ganja, phensedyl and yaba tablets. Our Govt will be ruthless against all drug-peddlers and NDPS act will be imposed equally for all regardless political identity. Since our Govt has come, at a huge number drug-smugglers were arrested, put in jail. Even police officials are sent to jail and this culture of drug-smuggling and its networks was created in last 15 to 20 years”.

It can be noted here that on August 26, Bishalgrah police arrested a cop named Biswajit Das from Khowai Police Station under NDPS for allegedly having deep nexus with drug-mafias. The arrest took place from Khowai PS in latenight, said report. Biswajit Das was appointed as the sub-inspector of the police station.

However, amid all drives, still there are political figures who are directly, indirectly involved in such crimes but police yet to nab them.

Home Ministry of Tripura has directed Tripura Police to catch all types of drug-mafias regardless political identities.
