AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): Cess on fuel was hiked in Tripura in 2018 on July 26, 2018 and it was said by Law Minister Ratanlal Nath that the revenue it will be used for road-maintenance but various complaints are coming from various parts of the state about poor condition of roadways turning lives hell during the monsoon. Due to the breakdown of Ambassa Kamalpur road or Ambassa Gandachara road or local roads, bridges, public suffering is increasing day by day. Same reports came from Melaghar-Sonamura roads. Such pathetic condition of roadways however are nothing new for Tripura, rather the situation of roadways has been similar for Tripura since decades.Tripura’s roadways have been opened across state undoubtedly but the quality of work has remained under a big question mark.The BJP led State Govt in Tripura has ordered probe of Rs. 850 crore’s roadway construction project, announced Chief Minister Biplab Deb recently.

Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that not only flyover, total 6 projects are now under vigilance to dig the corruptions in CPI-M Govt’s time. Rs. 850 crore’s roadway projects will also be investigated and each and every corrupt person will be brought under the bar.
“The previous Govt had neither any plan nor kept proper balance sheet for the projects. Before Election, I promised people to punish corrupt people and I will keep the promise”, Deb said.
On the other side, Badal Chaudhury has said, he has no problem for any kind of investigation, but BJP Govt should not make the projects delay in the name of investigation.
However, for the fresh projects PWD has reportedly focused on the legibility of the roadways.
