AGARTALA, Aug 5 (TIWN): In an aim to attract the educating youths towards Tripura’s state fruit, now the Tripura University has planted queen pineapple as a part of displaying Tripura’s state fruit at there.
Tree Plantation has been a Nobel practice in the TU campus since the joining of Prof. V. L. Dharurkar as a Vice-Chancellor. He has a keen interest in the plantation of different types of trees and rare fruits of Tripura.
To enrich the fertility of soil (of Mosumbi cluster) by supplying Nitrogen through leguminous plant (Pigeon pea) an initiative is taken by the Prof. V. L. Dharurkar, Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University and Agricultural College of Tripura and accordingly, a plantation programme is organized by Tripura University with the leadership of Prof. Dharurkar and the same plantation will cover one hector Land of Tripura University under Agriculture and Horticulture mission. In this plantation program around 200, Queen Pineapple plants were planted in the campus and the fruits coming from the garden will be supplied to the Hostel students.
This is the continuation of the earlier program in the last year where 100 Queen Pineapple were planted and all those plants started giving output this year. In the said program, Vice-Chancellor, and others were present.
