AGARTALA, July 27 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb on Friday evening attended the farewell programme organised in honour of outgoing Governor Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki ji today at Old Rajbhavan.
On behalf of his people, CM thanked Prof. Solanki ji for serving our State during his tenure as Tripura.
“Solanki ji has made an attachment to the people of Tripura within a short span of time.His guidance for the development of the state was beneficial”, Chief Minister Biplab Deb said.
Kaptan Singh Solanki is the Governor of Tripura and an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Since August 2009 he was the member of the Parliament of India representing Madhya Pradesh State in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house until May 2014.
On July 20, President Ram Nath Kovind Saturday appointed six new Governors in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Nagaland and Tripura.
The President has appointed Ramesh Bais as new Governor of Tripura replacing incumbent Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki.
Anandiben Patel, who was the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, has now been appointed as Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, Jagdeep Dhankhar, Ramesh Bais, Lal Ji Tandon, Phagu Chauhan and RN Ravi have been appointed as Governors of West Bengal, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Nagaland respectively. With Anandiben’s appointment, this is the first time that UP will get a lady Governor since its inception in 1950. Sarojini Naidu was first Governor in 1947 but of United Provinces.
