AGARTALA, July 26 (TIWN): No Govt could make much strict law for Durga puja donation and fees and also there is no limits of Puja budgets. Last year in Udaipur Amarsagar area a student was attempted to murder as his body was put in a sack and dumped in Amarsagar after he denied to give donation to the club in the area where he was residing in rent. But this year in the same way, donation charges are going high and new house builders or land buyers are imposing with multi-lakhs of donation charges. People where eagerly waiting for the auspicious celebration of Durga Puja, on the other hand tension for the puja donations get mounted among the common people, even though most of the clubs are headed by ruling party people, however for safety purpose the complainers names are kept hidden. This year Durga Puja to be started from October 4 and to be continued till October 8.
High demands of the Puja Committees from different clubs lead the common people to suffer. Decoration of Puja pandals means more important for the Puja Committee than the suffering of the poor people whose daily wages is not even enough for spending for two times of meal.
The decoration of Puja Pandal has become more important than the livelihood of the common people. The clubs get impulsive to grab the award of the award “Best-Puja” and rush to join the competition.
Puja donation amount has no limits, alleged locals. The Puja Committee pen down whatever amount they decide, they don’t even think twice that will we be able to manage the amount or not.
Besides, another person mentioned that if they refuse to pay any donation to the club or pay less than they threaten then and to avoid any kind of untoward incident the locals somehow manages the amount.
All though Durga Puja brings communal harmony but due to this tradition of forced donation demand by clubs in the name of Puja pandals disrupts the peace among the people.
