AGARTALA, July 20 (TIWN): At least 23,000 youths will be given training under Skill Development by march, 2020, an official said.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb has personally shown interest in the project. He said, 23,000 youths’ training will be helpful to control unemployment. CM also sounded confident that this project will be 100% successful.
This year skill development has focused on rubber, food processing and IT.
“The Govt has started working in mission mode to reduce unemployment rates via Skill Development. Thus, under Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana project, various trainings are being organized. It will not only generate employment but also develop the skills”, said the official.
‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana’ is a skill development initiative scheme of the Government of India for recognition and standardisation of skills.
Skill Development started in 2014 but in Tripura the work held in very slow manner under the then corrupt former Chief Secretary S K Panda who allocated this scheme even to fake companies like Lichu Bagan located media house, whose land was illegally given by the then Gvt. Even such companies controlled Kishan Helpline centre funds but no farmer was benefited from that. Confirm source informed on the one side, they took skill development fund and used those youths for own company’s works.
Only 5% of the target of skill development was fulfilled under the previous Govt. The numbers of trained people never crossed thousand but after the BJP Govt came in power in first year 12,335 people were trained. This year the target is 23,000.
