Tripura Opposition Leader finally wakes up from 16 months slumber, Manik Sarkar wrote a letter to Biplab Deb against privatization of Mid-Day meals, Govt Schools

AGARTALA, July 18 (TIWN): Tripura Opposition Leader cum Ex-CM Manik Sarkar failed miserably to act as State’s main opposition leader as he kept silent against BJP leaders Pratima Bhowmik, Ram Prasad Pal type leaders organized violence against CPI-M activists, Poll rigging, massive statewide breakdown of Democracy. However, finally 20 years well reputed Tripura’s former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, who was nationally honoured for good governance, after becoming opposition leader, has woke up from as if a deep slumber and wrote a letter to Chief Minister Biplab Deb against privatization of Tripura schools and mid-day-meal issues, but this action was taken after long passage of time since Govt announced about handingover of Tripura schools to private sectors.

In the letter, Manik Sarkar told Biplab Deb, he is acknowledged from various newspapers that Tripura Government has decided to handover chosen schools in private hands and also giving mid-day-meal management to the private agencies. 

He said, “Very humbly I would say that both the decisions of the Govt are against the positive and significant achievements attained by long drown arduous glorious of the Education loving people of Tripura for ceaseless expansion of education to ensure the brightright of education to each and every child of our society for fulfillment of the cherished goal of ‘Education for all’.

Manik Sarkar said, there are many institutions in Tripura which are private but enjoying all benefits like Govt organization, but there is no instance which can cite that Govt handedover organization in private hands.

Sarkar strongly criticized Govt’s decision to facilitate the private agencies with mid-day-meal. It will also snatch livelihood of many workers working under mid-day-meal.

Moreover, local businessmen, suppliers of vegetables, eggs will face problems. “This will affect the markets specially in rural Tripura”, said Manik Sarkar.

Manik Sarkar has requested Chief Minister Biplab Deb to change the Govt’s decision of privatizing schools.
