AGARTALA, July 12 (TIWN): Finally, justice received by a victim housewife who back in 2012, before 6 years underwent barbaric social tortures at Bishalgarh sub-division under Sepahijala District by her husband and his family along with local people.

13 people have been convicted, punished for 3 years jail.

On 16th December, 2019 at Lalsinghmura of Lalpania in Bishalgarh under Gangachara PS one housewife named Dipa Nath Kar was inhumanly tortured by her in-laws family members in mean way, making her naked and hanging her in a tree.

Against total 15 accused persons cases were registered and today Session Judge Court has convicted 13 people in the case. Court has also condemned the incident.

The convicted persons are husband Samir Kar, mother-in-law Maya Rani Kar, sister in law Rinku Kar, brother in law Kajal Kar. Rest of the 10 people are locals.

In-laws family members were sent to jail for 3 years under IPC 498A and rest 9 people Firoj Mia, Manoyara Begum, Suman Mia, Kiran Mia, Sima Begum, Rabia Begum, Swapna Kabir, Samayan Kabir, Swapna Bibi, Arati Debnath sent for also 3 years jail under Section 342, 352, 323, 354, 354B.

Additional Session judge Angsuman Debbarma pronounced the verdict. The victim’s family and also local people have expressed satisfaction over the verdict.

The advocate said, conviction rate in Tripura has been very low but now it will seen how the conviction rate can be increased massively.
