AGARTALA, July 11 (TIWN): Chief Minister Biplab Deb has met Arshiya, the chess champion of Tripura.
He has won Gold as well as Bronze medals in the recently held Asian School Chess Championship.
“Met with the young & talented chess player of Tripura Arshiya Das.Congratulated her on winning Gold & Bronze Medal in different categories of Asian School Chess Championship,2019 organised at Uzbekistan”, said CM.
It can be recalled that in the request of Chief Minister Biplab Deb, OTPC has made Arshiya Das, chess gem of Tripura as the brand ambassador and started to help her financially.
Earlier Arshiya’s father told Chief Minister Biplab Deb about the problems they are facing on financial ground and also said, it is not possible for the family to bear her expenditure.
It was calculated that per year 14 lakhs of expenditure is needed for Arshiya. After CM”s instruction, OTPC has released 12 lakhs.
8 years old girl Arshiya Das has represented India in the Asian School Chess Championship being held in Uzbekistan from Wednesday.
She is a student of class-III in Holy Cross School in Agartala. She had started playing chess when she was five years old and has won many tournaments across the country.
