Agartala, October 21 (TIWN): Thirteen more trucks loaded with Andhra rice arrived in the State on Tuesday. Secretary of Import-Export, Mr.Habul Biswas informed this to TIWN. Earlier, yesterday, four trucksarrived in the State. On account of this, Indian trucks standing near FCI go-down are still facing difficulties on unloading the rice.

However, they protested against the unloading of Bangladeshi trucks. They raised the anguish that, due to the arrival of these trucks, for several days they had to remain unemployed.
On the other hand, Speaking to TIWN, Mr. Biswas told that, fourteen trucks carrying Andhra rice reached the Akhaura border today morning. Each truck contains 360 bags of rice and the each bag contains 50 kilograms of rice.

Earlier, the trucks were unloaded  on yesterday after some disturbances created by the Indian labourers.
It is to be mentioned here that duty of arriving the consignment of rice to Agartala is vested upon an organization of Government of India, named as Food Corporation of India (FCI). Earlier these consignments are reached through railway and Lorries. But due to the interrupted rail services from October 1st, due to the setting up of Lumbding-Agartala Broad-gage line. The National Highway is the only solution. In order to share some of the responsibilities, Indian Government decides to store the rice through the seaway of Bangladesh. Bangladesh on humanitarian background agreed for this import.
Out of the ten thousand metric tons of Andhra rice the first consignment containing five thousand metric tons of rice arrived in the state on August.

Now, for the second consignment of another five thousand metric tons, the trucks loading near about 1lakh 861bags of rice, with 50kgs in each bag started arriving at Agartala which will may be completed within fifteen days.
However, on the other side, the labourers of FCI, Nandannagar go-down, created problems on the unloading of Bangladeshi trucks yesterday.
They anguished that, for every bag, they got only two rupees. Due to the unloading of sixty Indian trucks, their livelihood falls in troubles, because they all are local daily laboures.

Besides these, for the Indian truck drivers protested on the issue that there was not well sufficient necessary arrangement for them, as per toilets, hotels and accommodation is concerned. Though, these facilities are made for Bangladeshi truck drivers and assistants.
