AGARTALA, June 27 (TIWN): SFI continues protest against privatization of Tripura Govt schools. Tripura government has decided to hand over 20 state-run schools including 13 closed institutions to ISKCON to run them leading massive criticism.
CPI-M’s students wing SFI which had earlier gheraoed the Education dept, placed deputation demanding immediate cancellation of the decision taken by the Govt, today staged again agitation on the same issue.
Also increasing fees were one more concerned issue of the Govt.
On the background of the protest, SFI told the media that both central and state BJP Govt are at their best to promote privatization, capitalism.
SFI stated that these schools were results of people’s protest and movement. The decision of privatizing schools are betrays to the people.
The statement came from SFI after closed 20 schools in Tripura were decided to be given in private hands.
From Govt side, it was said that the cause behind the handing-over of Tripura schools are nothing but students’ crisis.
Tripura has 147 schools where numbers of students are less than 10. Out of them 20 schools have been selected to serve the purpose. Teachers crisis, students crisis had led 20 schools in Tripura to be shutdown. On that time, the BJP led State Govt has decided to open these schools via private hands.
Tripura has 4,389 government and government-aided schools right now.
