AGARTALA, June 27 (TIWN): Massive suffering ongoing since 4 months as Tripura undergoing worst load-shedding in history as over 12 to 16 hours power cuts in average across State. Load Shedding exposed State Govt & Power Minister's failure failure to control the power cut problems in Tripura. Power Dept headed by Minister Jishnu Dev Verman has failed to cite any particular reason behind the ongoing massive load0-shedding. Even after Power Minister Jishnu Dev Barman clarified that Tripura has enough power surplus yet the power cut problems continues to haunt the state. According to Power Minister, Tripura Govt is getting 63 MW from Rukhia, 42 MW from Baramura, 10 MW from Dumboor, 100 MW from Monarchak, 130 MW from central share and from OTPC 725 MW.Tripura needs 300 MW power whereas Nepal and Bangladesh are getting power from Tripura. But amid such claims also, public are complaining about massive power cut problems in the state.
However, Power Dept of Tripura headed by Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Barman however has launched a new project named in Bengal “Vidyut Nigam Aponar Dorgoray”. Toll free numbers have also given 1912 for registering complaints, but customers have alleged that this number is not always functioning properly. Govt has also given alternative numbers for other problems, faults in electricity connection 1381-235-3502 and 0381-235-6470.
To free the state from power theft, the Power Dept has announced to make Tripura ‘hook-line free state’.
Power Minister Jihsnu Debbarma said that within 3 months, West Tripura’s hook-line connections will be slashed. He also said that TSECL is trying its best to solve the power cut problems and Govt has also given toll free number for registering complaints.
Under Soubhagya Yojna 1.36 lakhs people have gotten electricity connections in Tripura.
Due to power cuts nights are becoming naightmares in some places followed by sleepless situations. Also banking services are being disrupted thoroughly due to power cut.
Rural areas’ conditions are most pathetic but now Agartala’s situation is no way better. It is also leading massive water crisis in many areas.
To motivate biogas electricity generation, govt of Tripura has decided to allocate a scheme for the interested people.
The scheme is of 33,000 and the beneficiary has to bear 1500 per month, but the interested person must have at least 3 or more than 3 cows.
