UDAIPUR, October 19 (TIWN): 2 day long Tripura Sundari Dance and Music Festival 2014 will be inaugurated by the Governor P B Acharya on Monday at 4pm. This is the first time such a national level programme centering a religious centre is being organized in Tripura. The festival is organized by Rupakalpam and supported by Tripurasundari Temple Advisory Committee and Sangeet Natak Academic, New Delhi. The Tripurasundari Dance and Music Festival will continue up to 21st October.
Minister for Jail and PGP Dept will be the Chief Guest on this occasion. Chairperson of Tripura Women Commission Purnima Roy, Sabhadhiptai of Gomati Zila Parishad Suniti Saha and Santanu Das ,Secretary , Information and Cultural Affairs will remain present as Special Guests. MLA Madhab Saha will preside over the programme.
On the first evening (20th October) Pandit Srikumar Chattopadhya(Shyama Sangeet Kolkata), Dr Rabibdra Bharali(Vocal, Tripura), Boby Chakraborty(Kuchipudi, Tripura), Anita Sharma(Sattriya, Assam) and Rupa Rani Das Borah(Kathak, Assam) will perform. And on the concluding day (21st October) Yripti Water(Vocal , Tripura), Arunabha & Abhijit Sharma(Sarod & Sitar, Tripura ), Abhinaya Nagajythy(Kuchipudi,New Delhi) Debaldev Jana (Bharatnatyam, Kolkata) and Sarbani Nandi(Odissi, Tripura) will entertain the crowd with their performance.
Speaking to the press in the Tripurasundari Temple on behalf of the organizers Rupakalpam Partha Pratim Chakraborty said," The programme is being organized to promote Tripura Sundari Temple in the national level. Generally such programmes are held in South India. And from next year it will be organized on a much bigger spectrum. This is also a part of Diwali Mela 2014." The Sangeet Natak Academy Delhi has also extended their support in this programme. Already the temple complex and its surroundings have been illuminated with LED, High Mast Lighting system.
