AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): Experiencing unhealthy situation in GB hospital due to biomedical waste including human anatomical wastes’ dumping in inappropriate places like Municipal containers directly due to the negligence of the hospital staffs, Govt of Tripura has taken firm decision to curb down the problem immediately.
In a notification, Additional Chief Secretary to CM Kumar Alok has mentioned, “It has come to notice that biomedical waste including human anatomical wastes from GB hospital is not being sent into incinerator located inside the hospital but is being dumped in the municipal containers which will lead to spread of infections and diseases”.
“It has also been noticed that injections,needles after uses are not being destroyed and are thrown into the container of the hospital. These are likely to be reused and may lead to spreading of infectious diseases”, said the notification.
“This is extremely serious and the hospital staffs who are indulged in such gross violation of bio-medical waste management rules- 2016 should be taken to task”.
Govt has further ordered inspections to the issues and imposed strict rules according to Biomedical Waste Management Rules.
