AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): Xerses Sidhwa Director Health USAID (US Agency for International Development) along with officials of USAID met Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb today.

It meeting ended with vibrant and positive discussions and both parties have extended cooperation for the Welfare of Health & FW Deptt Govt of Tripura.

USAID and Govt of Tripura also agreed to enter into an “Engagement & Coordination Agreement” with H&FW Dept Govt of Tripura for at least four areas of targets :

1. Reducing Anaemia amongst women & children to zero

2. Preventing Infant deaths

3. Preventing & reducing Malnutrition

4. Prevention of teenage pregnancies

It is to be mentioned that USAID is already working with NHM Govt of Tripura for implementation of Health & Welness Centres under Ayushman Bharat.

At present USAID has such an ‘engagement & coordination agreement’ with 3 states namely Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand & Assam.
