AGARTALA, June 5 (TIWN): Amid model code of conduct, 10 people killed in Tripura in April 2019, but till now May month’s data has not revealed. However, due to administrative re-shuffling this might delayed but after four days of passing, no data has been given in the police website. From January 2019 to April 2019 at least 40 murders took place at average 1 person is killed in every 3 days in Tripura, according to police record. n such a small populated state, murder episodes have remained as day to day incidents, raising a serious question on the law and order situation of the state.According to police report at least 40 murders took place from January 2019 to April 2019, which means 10 murders at an average in one month. In 2018 total 137 murders took place which includes mob-lynching of innocent people.Police report also has revealed that total 371 theft cases, kidnapping 166 and rioting 255 in numbers across 2018.

At least 255 rioting cases were filed in police stations across Tripura in 2018 a drastically hike than the previous years. However, the mainstream media limelight could not put a light in that major issue.Police report has revealed the rioting incidents had increased in Tripura since 2017 (pre-Assembly-election season). It's the time when BJP as opposition came in alliance with IPFT, the party which demanded a separate land for Tripura’s indigenous people, organized a road blockade in Baramura for long 11 days on National Highway. Various murders took place including journalist Santanu Bhoumik.

The rioting cases numbers which were lodged are : Year 2014 : 94 cases, Year 2015 : 76 cases, Year 2016: 78 cases : Year 2017 : 124 cases, Year 2018 : 255 cases and in 2019 from January to April total 57 cases were registered.

A sharp hike indeed from 2017 onwards.

It can be mentioned here, the ruling BJP’s role was found fictitious along with Tripura police’s few corrupt officials on January 8, 2019 centering Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016. A group of non-Tiprasa with BJP flags entered the agitation place organized by Tiprasa against Citizenship Amendment Bill and burnt properties at Madhav Bari, Jirania. Police firing on agitators created massive tension and 6 injured followed by police led shocking attacks on patients’ carrying ambulance.

There have been attempts of religious disturbances and Viswa Hindu Parishad led disturbance alleged many times in minority areas.

In May month there were massive post poll violence in Tripura but so far no report was disclosed by the police head.
