AGARTALA, June 4 (TIWN): Centering Mungiakami at Khowai District various news items have been flashed recently with various types of information and police have allegedly arrested few villagers, but no media existing in the state could clearly publish what happened at Mungiakami which led the whole violence. But the reality is unheard, unknown and just few blames have been imposed on a section of the villagers. In no mainstream media what happened actually in Mungiakami has been published except Section 144 was imposed in that area for long. It proves Tripura's local media basically has no mass-level connection. Money extortion tortures are main problem of Mungiakami just like major areas of the state. But following the disturbance many villagers were arrested who have been promised to get bail by Congress President Pradyot Manikya. Money extortion remains a major problem for the Mungiakami residents and when they protested a political clash erupted. A section of miscreants are trying to occupying the local market of the people.

In national media report it came that recently clashes took place at Mungiakami area when a team of state forest division reached the area to conduct a raid. The villagers allegedly tried to stop the personnel from the forest division and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) from entering the village to conduct the raid. Following this, the TSR personnel had to resort to firing in the air to control the situation, but the villagers told a different story which doesn’t match with the police’s version. Till now tension prevails at there and money extortion threats by a section of miscreants continue.

Also many of the innocent villagers allegedly were arrested and still in police custody. Section 144 was imposed for long at Mungiakami.

Earlier, on January 8, 2019 at Madhav Bari (Jirania(, 6 innocent youths were injured in police firing and when they were being taken to hospital police tried to kill the patients in the ambulance.

The angry villagers on last Wednesday also blocked the main road in the area in protest against the district administration’s decision to resort to firing in the air on Tuesday morning, according to the reports published on East Mojo. However, following assurance from sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Bhaswar Bhattacharya and senior police officer Tapas Paul to investigate into the matter, the villagers decided to call off the blockade programme.

On June 2, Congress President of Tripura said after visiting Mungiakami, “Went to MungiaKami and met the villagers and also discussed the violence and extortion threats to them . They also told me about a certain lobby trying to take over the market there . I have given some relief to the affected villagers and also met the police officals to provide safety for the people there . I will also ensure that bail is provided to all the people who have been falsely implicated”.
