AGARTALA, May 17 (TIWN): Prime Minister Modi ahead of Lok Sabha Election 2019 has promised Bengal that he will rebuild the statue of Vidyasagar, the veteran Bengal poet.
But at the same time, in Tripura many statues have been vandalized in last one year of the BJP ruling, including another Bengal poet Sukanta Bhattacharya.
Also Russian Communist leader Lenin, Tripura former Deputy CM Baidyanath Majumder, Tripura King Maharaja Bir Bikram’s statues were vandalized, but Modi did not show any concern to rebuilt those structures yet there.
Moreover, Tripura Govt desperately didn’t condemn poet Sukanta Bhattacharjee’s statue demolition which occurred at Bishalgarh, Sepahijala District. It has punctured BJP’s double standard in poll-games in two states.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused “TMC goondas” of vandalising the bust of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar in violence during BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday, and promised to build a "grand statue" made of panchaloh (five metals) of the Bengali reformer at the same spot.
