AGARTALA, May 7 (TIWN): Along with the whole country, Tripura also celebrated Akshay Tritiya. Akshay Tritiya is considered to be an auspicious day from many aspects. There are many legends and stories related to it that proves its significance in Hindu culture. It marks the beginning of summers, farmers enjoy this time of crop ripening by observing fasts and organizing fairs. It is also believed that one of the manifestations of Lord Vishnu to save the world was born on this day itself.

As per the belief, it is said that this is the best time for those who are suffering from obstacles at work and other ventures or those who are not getting any other auspicious muhurat to perform sacred deeds. It is considered to be an auspicious time to start everything from the scratch. Afresh. It is an ideal day to purchase Gold and to expand your new ventures successfully.

Akshay Tritiya is believed to be the festival for accomplishing enormous prosperity. Sacred deeds, charity, donations, austerities, holy bath etc have special significance on this day. Taking bath in holy rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna is considered very auspicious.

Donating articles and things such as clothes, water, foods items etc which can be used in summers is also considered auspicious. Goddess Parvati should be worshipped with wheat, channa, curd, milk, kheer, sugarcane, gold, clothes, water pot etc on this day. It is also known they God Ramthakur had come to his mother’s womb on this particular day and also breathed His last on the same consecutive day.

Jewellers across the country are expecting bullish gold sales ­ around 25 percent higher ­ this Akshay Tritiya driven by good demand. The average bill size today will be higher than normal days as people generally save for the occasion and buy gold jewellery. Those who want to buy gold on Tuesday normally go for coins. Those who had planned for the occasion would buy the items they had planned.

People thronged jewellery shops and showrooms in the city on Sunday ahead of Akshay Tritiya which falls on Tuesday (April 21) to buy jewellery and place orders for gold and silver ornaments. One owner of renowned jewellery shop told that lightweight models with antique designs were a big hit among the customers. “We are offering jewellery at good prices and have slashed wastage charges by nearly half owing to the competition in the market. The public too are well informed of the choices available,” he stated.
