AGARTALA, May 4 (TIWN): A defamation case was filed against Tripura’s local newspaper Sandyan-Patrika Editor Subal Dey after his newspaper circulated a fake news ahead of election regarding MP candidate of CPI-M Sankar Prasad Dutta.

The news was regarding MP Sankar Prasad Dutta alleging his properties were doubled in last few months, whereas in the affidavit, Sankar Prasad Dutta gave in details his properties increased little with his unmarried brother’s death.

On 7th May, Court has directed Subal Dey to produce himself before the court.The case lodged under IPC 500, 501.
