Tripura local TV channel Editor Saikat Talapatra was arrested here in Tripura after he allegedly posted status against Chief Minister Biplab Deb and shared news. His facebook account has also been hacked. His arrest has been claimed by his advocate as totally illegal and based on irrational charges for sharing news and information which yet to prove as true or fake. His arrest was a part of ongoing arrests of various people including a police constable Jamal Hossain after they shared news about Chief Minister Biplab Deb’s ongoing divorce case in court at Delhi, whereas Biplab Deb didn’t dare to file any case against any national media houses which are still strict to their stand that Biplab Deb is undergoing divorce case with wife, which proves the news have been 100% true. Before the arrest, Biplab Deb’s wife directly told media that either “legal” or “illegal”, but they will take action against all who talked about the divorce case. Earlier, in Manipur Kishorchandra Wangkhem was arrested in November 2018 after he criticized BJP and RSS.

Since BJP came in power attacks on journalists have increased double. A 40 years old newspaper Daily-Desher-Katha, TV channel Mrinalini ENN, Channel Din Raat were shutdown by Biplab Deb Govt.

Attacks on Tripurainfoway.com was covered nationwide. TIWN Editor’s senior citizen parents, journalists, photographers all were harassed by police which were stopped after High Court intervened.

Being failed to down Tripurainfoway.com (TIWN) webmedia at the American domain, Modi Govt illegally blocked the URL of the domain in India. Also huge harassments were done illegally by police to the people connected with the website.

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said that telecos in the country were asked to block a total of 11,045 websites on the directions of the IT Ministry and various court orders and it includes Tripurainfoway.com and various state media houses too.

Right now in Tripura another BJP supporter Anupam Paul (founder of Cholo Paltai) is also facing case by police after he shared news. Anupam Paul is a creation of Biplab Deb and his party himself used to post dirty posts against CPI-M and Congress but with unknown issue since few time, he is posting against BJP. Anupam’s parents, relatives, friends are regularly being harassed by police in search of Anupam.
