Agartala, Oct 14 (TIWN): Another accused of Chandrapur incident- Partha Majumder was arrested in the wee hours of Monday night. Police produced him before the court today seeking police remand. The next hearing for the Chandrapur brutal incident is scheduled to be held on October 20.
After getting a call from the Governor, the victim Soma Majumder along with her lawyer met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and narrated her ordeal aftermath of brutal torture upon her on eve of Laxmi Puja.
After paying a patience hearing on the victim, Tripura Governor P.B. Acharya at Raj Bhavan yesterday asked the Inspector General of Police (IGP)- Anurag Dhyankar to conduct an impartial investigation into the Chandrapur (Tata Kalibari) incident.
The Governor has also exhorted the top cop to ensure that witnesses could give statement before the trial court without any fear. The police authority was also asked to provide security to the victim.
Earlier, a delegation of Mahila Congress submitted memorandum to the Superintended of Police (SP), west district demanding arrest of all accused persons cancelling their bail and organized a candle rally in protest of the Chandrapur incident.
But several questions are being raised among the people about the role of Tripura Commission for Women (TCW) as no member of TCW visited the victim- Soma Majumder’s house before she visited the Chairperson of TCW- Purnima Roy today.
