30 booths left without Opposition Polling agents, 15 CPI-M polling agents beaten at Hrishyamukh

AGARTALA / NEW DELHI, April 23 (TIWN): At least 30 booths are captured till 12.30 pm by ruling BJP in South Tripura’s Hrishyamukh constituency.

Addressing media, CPI-M State Secretary Gautam Das said, “Today on the poll day on 23rd April, from various places rigging has been reported. Our Polling agents were beaten”.

“In Khowai, Kuarghat, Amarpur, Hrishyamukh, Mani, Jaolaibari, Ramchandraghat, Rajanagtar areas, people were attacked house to house on yesterday night. Time to time, such matters have been taken to the Election Commission. People by overcoming all fears and threats, came to booths to cast their votes but in Jolaibari, Hrishyamukh like areas after coming in the poll centres they were attempted to be prevented”, said Gautam Das.

“15 polling agents of Hrishyamukh were threatened not to come in the polling station and 15 were beaten inside booths and they were pushed out of the centres. Around till 9 am huge terror was organized in those polling areas but due to our continuous complaints some measures of security was taken and the voters are again coming to cast their votes at there”, added Gautam Das, but in 30 booths no CPI-M polling agent is existing.

“In Jolaibari huge violence was conducted but after that securities were beefed up and now again voting has started. Our polling agents are there in 36 booths. At Sabroom’s Jalefa area, BJP hooligans stopped voters to go to the booths. We have complained to the all layers of officers but till 11 am there is no information about voting was started there are not”, added Gautam Das.

“In Kamalpur, that much of terror and panic was created that in few villages voters till now have not come out for voting. Our candidate Jitendra Chaudhury is remaining right now at there”, said Das.

“In Khowai BJP miscreants created barricades in each corners. We informed police, DGP and Observers. Now, the situation is developed at there.  In Kumarghat’s Jagannathpur BJP miscreants have stopped voters to go to the booths. In Kanchanpur Dasda area, 29, 30, 31 number booths in Radhamadhabpur area also BJP miscreants have stopped the voters to go to the destined booth”, Gautam Das told media.

“In Amarpur also same happened but later police, security were deployed. In Telimaura serious condition was seen since yesterday night”, he said.

The CPI-M leader further congratulated the voters that amid much threats they are casting their votes.
