AGARTALA, April 8 (TIWN): After controversy, CPI-M MP Sankar Dutta has placed all details about his existing properties and how it increased in last few years.
Addressing media, MP Sankar Prasad Dutta said, “BJP has understood it will be defeated in the election and understanding that ground in one local newspaper they have misused my affidavit. The part which should be used before introduction was not used whereas the part which can lead confusion it has been used intentionally”.
(With MP Sankar Dutta’s brother passed away who didn’t marry, his properties were inherited by the MP).
Showing papers and documents, MP Sankar Prasad Dutta said, “My elder brother, a prominent advocate who didn’t marry. After his death, we have gained his properties. I have three sisters and later my sisters gifted these properties to me. The property which has been shown at Rajarhat, it was on that time a waterbody which was developed into a land and my brother bought it. On that time before 20-25 years it was around 7 lakhs which in today’s time would be 1.5 crore at least”.
“The land where we are staying it was bought by my father at less than 2000 rupees. Now this property’s price will be 17-18 lakhs at least. In 2018 both properties came in my name. Thus it is natural that in last one year my properties increased, but in affidavit I have clearly marked about the “inherited” nature of the properties”, Dutta added.
Apart from that various properties were gained by MP Sankar Dutta from his brother after he passed away.
