AGARTALA, April 7 (TIWN): NRIs worldwide uniting to protect Indian Democracy from BJP’s draconian attacks as all pillars of Democracy, Constitutional rights are under threat from Modi’s regime. In an exceptional move from USA with a major face loss for the Modi Govt as USA based Indian origin Professors, Journalists, Editors, Human Rights Activists have staged a joint protest at New York against attack upon Journalists in India. The agitation under the banner of “Protest to save Indian Democracy” was displayed through a rally front of Indian Consulate New York. TIWN Editor as part of ICW Organizing Committee delivered a strong speech to NRIs to unite and protect India’s Democracy. Briefing attacks on media in India, Tripurainfoway.com (TIWN) Editor Saumen Sarkar has blasted the Modi govt of India for its undemocratic move and continuous attacks on media.NRIs in New York demanded immediate release of Manipur Journalist Kishorechandra Wanglhem, who was imprisoned under brutal NSA Act only for posting Facebook comments criticizing Modi.

Addressing the gathering, Saumen Sarkar said, “We are here today for a great cause as the democracy is under severe attack in India today. It’s not only the democracy itself but the people across, minorities and anyone practicing free speech, even the oppositions as well as media”.

Various Eminent personalities, Professors Biju Joseph, Murali Natarajan to Writers, Human Rights Activists joined Saturday’s rally at New York.

“ICW, India’s Civil Watch we are group of people who are fighting to restore democratic institutions in India. Being an Editor of a media, I am also under severe attacks. This is a great gathering indeed”, said Sarkar.

“Modi since 5 years in India by using various media and various other ways has destroyed the country. I don’t know who is going to win the Election, but there is a high possibility that Modi may defeat as there is a high resentment against Modi in India right now”, said Saumen Sarkar.

“The main problem in India is that the BJP cannot operate without terror. They are severely attacking media and the opposition and the main reason is they don’t have any popularity. So they don’t have any popularity the only way they can suppress people is via terror. That’s the main reason they have shutdown lots of media, lots of websites, lots of opposition voices who were the primary voice of opposition in that country”, Saumen Sarkar told the gathering.

“It is all of our duty to give support those voices which are suppressed. I would say in last 5 years Indian democracy was under severe attacks and every institution were polluted. In India’s many states today you can not speak out, you can not say anything, can not exercise your democratic right”, Sarkar said.

“The main reason behind such attacks is they (BJP) doesn’t have any popularity amid their dream for rule for long by various JUMLA and by running the administration by various JUMLAs”, the Editor added.

Saumen Sarkar further mentioned about imprisonment of various journalists, editors under various dreaded acts as NSA.

“Our constitutional forefathers all ethics and principals have been smashed today in India. So, I would request everyone watching this video today to vote against BJP and Modi. The main reason is this no more remained just a political party. BJP has turned a party of all types of criminals, JUMLAs. This is our responsibility to defeat this evil forces”.
